Mind your own Body

Happy 2015! I feel this is the year that we continue to focus and explore for ourselves how the mind and body are so intimately connected and how they can really support us when in alignment as well as recognize the destructive effects when they are not working in support of one another. When you are aware of the wholeness of your being, mind, body and spirit you are in your most empowered state and can make improvements in your life quite effortlessly.

In October 2014, researchers at the Ohio Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute (OMNI) published a great piece of research in the Journal of Physiology that showed how visualisation can slow down the loss of muscle, say after a person has had an accident and has limited use. The research is a demonstration of the mind powerfully impacting the body. And then we all know how our state of mind is affected when we are sick with the flu or struggling with chronic back pain.

One key is to be the observer of whatever you are feeling in your body or mind in a sort of detached yet curious way (not always so easy!) and use this state as a tool for gaining more awareness into the root cause of your discomfort or for what may be the next step in your journey back to health and well-being. Tuning into what we need in any moment is skill that just needs to be practiced and remembered….

Mind Body Wellness Center

I am truly honored to have been asked to join the practice of Dr. Waseem Mir, and Integrative Rheumatologist (the only one I know of!) here in NYC on the Upper East Side. We are collaborating in creating a unique personalized mind/body approach to chronic pain, autoimmune conditions and arthritis. Our center will be incorporating the latest advances in nutritional wellness, energy medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, stress reduction techniques and counseling. We will be hosting small classes in our space downstairs and there is a beautiful courtyard out back that we will definitely be taking advantage of in the spring! Maybe a meditation garden! Stay tuned. The office is newly constructed and beautiful so please come and visit us there! 49 East 78th st ste 1B

Lemons! Lemon Low-Glycemic smoothie

Lemons are a powerhouse in the nutritional world! After a nights sleep, a big glass of warm or room temperature lemon water provides an ideal flush to the body’s systems…digestive, circulatory and elimination. Lemon juice is a great cleanser and purifier of blood, liver and kidney’s.

And for an easy alternative superboost to your morning glass try adding a few drops of doTerra’s Lemon essential oil. Traveling with lemons just got easier! If you are interested in purchasing a bottle go to [http://mydoterra.com/drsherri] or call us and we can help you get started….

Call if you have any questions or want to attend our next Essential oil complementary class in February!
